Shadowood
Saturday August 17th
If you blended Jackopierce, RUN-DMC, Guster, CSNY, and Barenaked Ladies together, you'd have a shadowood smoothie. The two Treys met when they were around 3 years old in L.A.* They quickly became best friends through sports and other common interests. Little did they know that later in life there would be music in their future. They both started playing guitar in college in different bands, but quickly came together and have been playing together for over 15 years now. During the early years, they would play many times a month at all hours of the night. Now that they have more “Day Job” responsibilities and 3 beautiful little girls to love and care for (Trey T, 2 and Trey E, 1), the two Treys (Eiland and Tunnell) are concentrating on song writing and getting the word out that they are serious about it. While the light may have dimmed on their dream to play Madison Square Garden, they still dream of hearing someone else playing their songs there. So, a new journey starts for them. They still love to play live and will do it in a heartbeat, but song writing is their passion. Take a listen and tell them what you think. They love feedback (if it’s good). *L.A. = Lower Alabama

Matt Jackson
Thursday August 22nd
Matt Jackson is Atlanta-based, by way of Birmingham, AL, singer/songwriter & producer known for his sound of Americana Gospel infused with Muscle Shoals era soul. Jackson’s tenor is reminiscent of a mellowed-out Roy Orbison, able to carry the bite of Levon Helm’s twang and the soul of Al Green. Jackson’s formative experience with music consisted of playing drums for his traveling preacher - father, experiencing again and again from behind the kit the heated fervor of Alabama tent revivals. A gift for singing and quickly picking up instruments eventually led Jackson into the music scene of his hometown of Birmingham. What followed was years of performing and recording with various rock bands, which gave him the chance to integrate his southern gospel background into the music of a scene equally rich in soul, rock, grunge, country blues, and bluegrass. Jackson continues honing his skills as a solo artist and producer while playing in various projects around his current hometown of Marietta, GA.

Kurt Thomas
Thursday August 29th
An inspiring high school graduation performance and $80 were all it took to get singer/songwriter Kurt Thomas hooked on the music business. And now, the small town country boy from Dahlonega, GA has recorded four CD’s and opened for some of the biggest names in country music including Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Alan, Darius Rucker, Zac Brown Band, Ronnie Milsap and Josh Turner. Kurt grew up enjoying the close-knit country life in Dahlonega where he heard local musician, Jay Drummonds, sing “Small Town” by John Cougar Mellencamp at his high school graduation. At that moment, he decided that’s what he wanted to do with his life and after graduation; he bought his first guitar for $80 and started his musical career. Eventually, Kurt started his own band, Kurt Thomas and the Small Town Band, in honor of the night he decided to make music his life and to honor the way of life that he had been raised to love.
